It’s a formula that was guaranteed to be a hit: celebrities bare their family secrets as their family trees are researched, undiscovered relatives identified, family secrets and shame revealed. The UK television series Who Do You Think You Are? is now an international institution. The format is repeated worldwide [Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, USA] and has spawned a magazine, an exhibition, and has 16,000 Twitter followers. Starting in 2004, the latest series is the 11th and features model Twiggy, actor Martin Shaw and comedian Billy Connolly.
