Aislinn Hunter
The World Before Us, the second novel by Canadian author Aislinn Hunter, is to be published by Hamish Hamilton in spring 2015. US rights were sold previously to Hogarth in a six-figure pre-emptive deal. Jane Standen is an archivist whose research uncovers connections between the London museum where she works, a Victorian asylum in the north of England, and a country estate.

Miranda Sherry
A debut novel by South African author Miranda Sherry is to be published in the UK by Head Of Zeus.

Black Dog Summer is set one South African summer and follows the story of a mother brutally murdered on a farmstead who then watches from the heavens as her grieving daughter moves in with her aunt’s dysfunctional family. It will be published as hardback and e-book in August 2014. black dog summer 1-4-14

Michel Faber
The Book of Strange New Things is the first novel by Michel Faber since The Crimson Petal and the White more than 10 years ago. Canongate will publish the title in November this year and some details of the story are being withheld until publication.

His Whitbread shortlisted novel Under the Skin is now a film starring Scarlett Johansson.

Christopher Bland
The debut novel by Sir Christopher Bland, the chairman of Canongate Books, is to be published by Head of Zeus. Ashes in the Wind tells the story of the Anglo-Irish Burkes and the Catholic Irish Sullivans from 1919 to 2010. A story from two opposing sides of Ireland’s troubles, Ashes in the Wind follows two childhood friends. To be published in hardback, export trade paperback and e-book in September 2014.

Jemma Forte
Harlequin’s MIRA imprint will publish two novels by TV presenter Jemma Forte. If You're Not The One by jemma forte 1-4-14First is If You’re Not The One, published in February 2014, about a young mother who sees how different her life would have been if she had made different choices. Forte has previously published two books with Penguin, Me and Miss M and From London with Love. Forte’s second book to come from MIRA is scheduled for release in 2015.

Fern Britton
HarperFiction has signed three new books by Fern Britton set in fictional Cornish village Pendruggan. Britton has previously published two books with HarperFiction, New Beginnings and The Holiday Home. A third, A Seaside Affair, will be released in May 2014. The three new novels will feature the fishing families of Pendruggan and Trevay as they battle the sea, and each other. The first book of the new deal will be released in 2015.

  2. That Miranda Sherry debut certainly caught my attention.

    The only thing is that farm murders and attacks strike a bit too close to home and becomes really rough reading when you’re trying to eek out a living in farming in southern Africa.
