JD Oswald
Crime writer Oswald, who writes the Inspecter McLean series, has signed a five book fantasy deal with Michael Joseph. The Ballad of Sir Befro is an epic fantasy series following a boy called Errol his dragon Benfro. Together they will shape the future of the Twin Kingdoms. Dreamwalker, the first of the five, will be published this autumn.

Antti Tuomainen
Dark as My Heart, a second novel by Finnish writer Antti Tuomainen [below] is to be published in the UK next year by Harvill Secker. His first book in English, The Healer, is published by the Random House imprint.

Dark as My Heart is related by Aleksi, who applies for a job as caretaker of the isolated seaside estate belonging to his mother’s former employer.

Rachael Lucas

Pan Macmillan has signed three books and an e-book novella from Rachael Lucas. Sealed with a Kiss, Lucas’s self-published debut novel, is a story of friendship, romance and rescued seals set on a remote Scottish island. It made the Kindle top 10 and has been downloaded more than 70,000 times. It will be published by Pan Macmillan in paperback in May, with a sequel e-book novella to be released for Christmas 2014. A third novel will be released in spring next year.

Mary Wood
Seven novels by e-book saga writer Mary Wood are to be published by Pan Macmillan. The deal includes five self-published and two unpublished novels. After 22 years writing, in 2011 Wood started to self-publish her novels.

Lina Wolff
Bret Easton Ellis and the Other Dogs, the debut novel of Swedish author Lina Wolff [below], will be published in the UK by Telegram Books.

The novel is set in Barcelona and weaves together different stories and testimonies about an eccentric Catalan author who only has a few months left to live.

Tina Seskis
Three books by writer Tina Seskis [below] will be published by Michael Joseph. The first, One Step Too Far, is the story of a young woman who walks out on her family.

Published last year, it has sold 100,000 copies so far. The print edition will be published this spring.
