Famous writers, writing… #author George Orwell via @SandraDanby http://wp.me/p5gEM4-y6
I once read his complete works. I was a bit down in the dumps at the time …. He didn’t cheer me up, but he is certainly a thought provoking author……..
Wow respect! I’ve never read them back-to-back! SD
I too read Animal Farm in school but have an especial fondness for 1984, which I read at school in 1984 (slightly nerdish fact, I know!)
I read that later, 1979-ish when I read English at university in London. Still have the copy! SD
Mine must have been mass-produced for the whole year to read at school but I have a newer copy!
Mine is a Penguin paperback with a front cover photograph by Humphrey Sutton of a faceless man in a black leather jacket, raising a red megaphone to his face. Quite spooky. The ‘Animal Farm’ cover is great too: a detail of a Joan Miro painting called ‘The Tilled Field’. I do love a good book cover! SD
Me too! You can’t beat a good cover especially for those really loved books!
